Awesome Old Song of the Week: "In the Meantime" by Spacehog

Spacehog's only hit single, In the Meantime, was popular in the summer of 1996.  All that sticks in my head from the video is the lead singer's orange sunglasses.  Other than that, there's not really much I remember about Spacehog.

After consulting Wikipedia, I can tell you that his name is Royston Langdon and he was married to Liv Tyler from 2003 through 2008--so well done Spacehog guy on that front.

Does Celtics rookie R.J. Hunter lead a double life as a vigilante computer hacker?

Two things I've been watching on television recently: Celtics Summer League basketball, and the show Mr. Robot on USA.  The strange thing is, I'm like 87 percent convinced that one guy is staring in both.

On the left is Celtics rookie R.J. Hunter, on the right is Mr. Robot star Rami Malek.  Tell me thery're not the same person?

'Sharknado 3' hot take

My thought is, if you're already falling back to Earth inside a shark which is protecting you from burning up upon reentering the planet's atmosphere, you might as well use that time to deliver your own baby as well.  I figure it's a good way to take your mind off the fact that you've just been swallow whole by a shark in space.

And I have to say, I did not see that coming, so well done Sharknado 3 makers.

Also, Tara Reid has to die, right?  The ex-bartender from the original Sharknado (pictured on the left) who mysteriously has to take her pants off when climbing out of a plane crash is clearly a much better match for Steve Sanders.  I feel as though the voting will be practically unanimous.

Gronk and Big Papi's third single drops, and it's weird

Here it is, Me Estoy Enamorando (make sure you watch till at least the 30-second mark):



It continues to blow my mind that Dunkin' Donuts convinced David Ortiz to sing.  As I said when the first Gronk and Big Papi track was released, this is one of the most impressive ad campaigns I've ever seen--possibly even worthy of trumping Jon Lester's major league record.

A+ on all counts for whoever put this idea in motion.  And if you're on the Pacers, how do you not play your heart out every time you wear the Hickory uniform?  A large part of winning in the NBA is simply effort and hustle (as proven by the talent-lacking yet moderately successful 2014-15 Celtics), so I'm guessing the Hickory jerseys alone will add several victories to Indiana's season total.

Memo to the Detroit Pistons: Start working on your plan to suit up in Flint Tropics unis for the 10-year anniversary of Semi-Pro in 2018...

Do I like watching golf now?

I could probably count the number of times in my life on one hand that I've turned on the TV with the intention of watching golf.  But I happened to catch the end of the U.S. Open, and even though Dustin Johnson's choke on 18 gave Jordan Spieth the win, I was still amazed by what Spieth did to get there.

Then last week Spieth was snubbed for the ESPY award for "Best Breakthrough Athlete" in favor of a Little League baseball player, and I decided to officially hop on his bandwagon.

Even though the 21-year-old Spieth finished one stroke shy of a chance to win his third major in a row today, I made a point of tuning in.

Never in a million years did I ever think I'd be watching golf on a Monday afternoon and actually care. Thanks Jordan Speith.

When he drilled that put on 16 to tie for the lead, I legitimately began to consider the possibility that I could be a fan of watching golf on TV.

Awesome Old Song of the Week: "Comedown" by Bush

Bush's Comedown was released as a single off of their debut album Sixteen Stone.  It was also prominently featured in the 1996 Marky Mark (Wahlberg)-Reese Witherspoon movie Fear.

The part that everybody remembers from Fear is when something very non-PG happens between the two of them on a roller coaster.  During the scene a cover of the Rolling Stone's Wild Horses plays, performed by a band called The Sundays.

Shortly thereafter (and not by coincidence), Bush sang Wild Horses on The Tonight Show.  Today you get two songs for the price of one:
